Spain Strengthens Its Role in Offshore Wind Skills Development Through Successful Local CoVE Event

On 15 May 2026, the Spanish Local CoVE Development Event was successfully organised in Ferrol, Spain, bringing together 39 participants from the vocational education and training sector, industry, and institutional stakeholders to discuss developments and opportunities in offshore wind energy skills and education.

The event featured an engaging roundtable discussion with professionals from the sector, providing valuable insights into current industry needs, emerging trends, and the importance of strengthening cooperation between education providers and industry partners. Participants also had the opportunity to visit the facilities of CIFP Ferrolterra, gaining first-hand insight into the training infrastructure and educational resources supporting vocational excellence in the region.

The initiative was jointly organised by University of Coruña and CIFP Ferrolterra as part of the ongoing activities within the SHOREWINNER Spanish CoVE framework, contributing to the promotion of innovation, collaboration, and skills development in the offshore renewable energy sector.

The event also generated strong local visibility, with regional media highlighting Span’s growing role as an international reference point for offshore wind energy training and innovation. Particular attention was given to the work being carried out by the Industrial Campus of Ferrol in advancing European collaboration on offshore renewable energy and strengthening specialised vocational education pathways aligned with industry needs.

The successful organisation of the event further reinforces the commitment of all partners to fostering excellence in vocational education and training for the offshore renewable energy sector across Europe.
